About the Event
We will gather for this traditional Gaelic May Day fire festival, with our own orientation. Traditionally this was a celebration of the union of feminine and masculine energies, of the life-sustaining energies of the Earth, the Goddess and the Green Man, fertility, creativity, lighting a new fire, growth. Pleae RSVP so we know you're coming. You'll need to receive updates regarding weather or location changes.
If we are able to secure a campsite, we will have a fire to represent that creative spark that animates all life, including us. Whatever your religious or spiritual heritage, the archetypes of the Green Man and the Goddess, celebrated this day for thousands of years, interweave with a core truth.
As usual, please bring a folding chair or blanket to sit on (that you don't mind getting dirty), your own water bottle, a mask, writing/drawing materials if you'd like, and most important, an open heart. = )
We'll meet in Hone Quarry Campground if possible. We can't park all of our cars in there however, so it will take some maneuvering to figure that out. Please arrive no later than 3:45 so we can be situated by 4. If the campground isn't an option, we will meet at the picnic shelter day-use area. LOOK FOR OUR NEW SIGN!
For questions please call or text 540-405-9201 or email svchurchofthewild@gmail.com prior to Sunday. There is no cell service in Hone Quarry.
