About the Event
PLEASE RSVP FOR CHANGES IN LOCATION OR WEATHER UPDATES!!!
The Celtic wheel of the year has just cycled through the ancient fire festival of Imbolc on February 1st and St Brigid Day. Instead of just being a one day event, this time stretches open in an in-between state. In between winter solstice and spring equinox, between darkness and light, death and rebirth, underground and emergence. Imbolc translates as "in the belly," and the archetype of Brigid is symbolized by the maternal, midwifery, poetry, hearth, healing and fertility. She is the keeper of the sacred flame.
We turn toward the divine feminine found within each one of us, within the rest of the natural world, in the creation and destruction of all things. We turn toward the belly, our breath, the sacred fire within each of us, and to what is waiting to emerge from within us. We will engage poetry, create a spiral of light and nature's offerings, ground ourselves, and share with each other.
Bring a poem to share (if you'd like) that intersects with this in-between time, the emerging light, the feminine... and a folding chair, a candle with a candle holder if you'd like, blankets, your warmest clothing and shoes/boots, gloves, hats (it will be around 40 degrees out there.) We will have a fire if we can, and will have tea light candles available.
We will meet in the meadow OR at the campground. LOOK FOR OUR CHURCH OF THE WILD SIGN. If you seer it near the picnic area, it means we are in the meadow. If you don't see it, keep driving to the campground. Parking is limited in the campground, so please arrive early so we can figure it out. If you can carpool, please do! Hone Quarry will show up on your GPS if you've not been out before. If it's too cold, we will shorten our time together to 1 hour.
If you've had a fever or not felt well within the last few days, or been exposed to someone with Covid, please don't come. Bring a mask in case there are many people since we will be close together for warmth! It will keep your face warm anyway! For questions, please text 540-405-9201 before Sunday. No cell service is available out there.
Looking forward to being together!
