About the Event
Amid the tumult, disorientation and overwhelm, we seek refuge, grounding and a sense of belonging to something larger than our present circumstances. We gather to remember. We gather to practice the art of our interconnection.
The Celtic sacred time of Imbolc traditionally honors Brigid, the goddess, the saint, the myth, the woman. The stories passed along tell of her sacred flame burning continuously on the hillside of Kildare ("Church of the Oak") from pre-Christian times, then becoming part of the monastic tradition, which continues today. Only during times of upheaval and suppression by the power of the prevailing Church or empire of the day, was the flame extinguished. Only to be relit. It remains burning, tended by women, a symbol of the hope of Ireland.
During this time, how do we relight the fire within us? The sacred flame that burns for justice and compassion, rooted in love?
